Have a negroni. Have two.

Have a negroni. Have two.

The start of this scribble is pulled from a quote from the American Celebrity Chef and Author Anthony Bourdain

The full quote, for me at least, speaks volumes and should motivate everyone to some degree.

“Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.”

Anthony was a successful, colourful and somewhat outspoken man… He believed in saying it how it was.

A man of great skills but a man with many demons also.

Having read one of his books, I found myself wanting more and just days ago purchased another… His style of writing and the atmosphere he conjures are addictive.

Anthony told his story, his observations within the Culinary industry and his experiences. And whilst he is unfortunately no longer with us, a massive void that will never be filled, his life and his writings are inspiring.

As a youngster I once had aspirations of being a chef and even found myself entered for a cooking competition at the age of 9yrs with the chance of winning a cooker.

Needless to say, in no way have I followed in the great man’s footsteps, other than still enjoying the craft of making a selection of meals for myself and friends that seem to be quite popular.

Being a wordsmith, creating content for a living, is a skill, as a writer creativity is the joy of my work. I have been writing from a very young age… Not published as such but I guess you can count all of my online work, sales copy, email marketing, social media marketing, blogging and a smattering of ebooks.

Maybe one day I will create a book that acts as a legacy of who I am.

So, I encourage you to read and reread Anthony’s quote above and if nothing else carry the sentiment of it.

Beyond that, grab one of his books, I am pretty sure most people will find his work and revelations fascinating and in many ways draw parallels to their own life.

That’s my 10 cents worth today…

“Enjoy the ride”
